Molykote D-6024 Engine Piston Coating High Temperature Anti-Friction Lubricant
Molykote D-6024 is a heat-curing dry-film lubricant composed of solid lubricants, organic binder, and organic solvent. It is a gray-black liquid with a density of 1.20 g/ml and a flash point of 41°C (106°F). It features a low coefficient of friction and can withstand an extreme temperature range of -70°C to +310°C, suitable for permanent lubrication of metal friction contacts.

Product Introduction
Molykote D-6024 is designed for metal/metal combinations involving slow to medium speeds and low to medium loads. It has high viscosity, making it highly suitable for screen-printing, though it can also be applied by spraying or brushing (dilution may be required). After curing, it forms a robust lubricating film that effectively reduces wear and extends component life. The recommended dry-film thickness is 15 to 20 μm.
Special Properties
This lubricant offers excellent chemical stability and high resistance to fuel, oil, grease, and solvents. The curing schedule requires 60 minutes at 200°C (392°F), with a recommended 10-minute flash-off at 80°C (176°F) prior to high-temperature curing. It achieves stronger adhesion on sandblasted or phosphated surfaces. According to testing, it has a service life exceeding 120 hours in the SRV endurance test, demonstrating high load-carrying capacity and wear protection.

Molykote D-6024 is primarily used in the automotive industry, specifically for pistons in internal combustion engines (gasoline and diesel). It helps to reduce piston and cylinder wall wear during break-in, cold start, and ongoing operation.
