Electrolube presents the DCR SCC3 Red Opaque Modified Alkyd Conformal Coating, the specialist red-opaque variant of the proven DCA modified alkyd formulation. DCR is engineered for printed circuit board (PCB) assemblies where concealment of circuit layout is required alongside compliance with the most stringent European and US defence standards.
Based on a flexible modified alkyd resin, DCR cures to form a tough, red opaque film (typical thickness 25–75 μm) that masks PCB design details while protecting solder joints and conductors from moisture, salt spray, fungal growth, and aggressive solvents common in aerospace and automotive environments. The coating is RoHSCompliant, meets IPC-CC-830, is UL 746CRecognized (File QMJU2), and conforms to DEF-STAN 59/47 Issue 4 / MIL-I-46058C requirements. It operates reliably from -70°C to +200°C, with dielectric strength of 90 kV/mm and surface insulation resistance ≥1*10¹⁵ Ω.
For optimum adhesion, boards should be thoroughly cleaned with Electrolube aqueous or solvent-based PCB cleaners to remove flux residues prior to coating. DCR is fully supported by compatible DCT thinners and CCRG removal gel as part of a complete conformal coating process system.
