High-Performance Structural Adhesive Plexus MA830 Launched for Rapid Bonding of Metals and Composites

ITW Engineered Polymers has officially launched the Plexus MA830, a two-part methacrylate structural adhesive designed to meet the demands for high-efficiency and high-reliability structural bonding in industrial manufacturing. It is specifically optimized for the assembly of metals, thermoplastics, and composites.

Core Advantages

The most notable feature of Plexus MA830 is its ability to achieve structural bonding of metals without the need for primers, thanks to its unique formulation. When mixed at a 10:1 volume ratio at room temperature (23°C), it offers a working time of 4-6 minutes and achieves approximately 75% of its ultimate strength within 15-25 minutes, significantly reducing production cycle times and improving assembly efficiency.

Application Scenarios

Plexus MA830 fills the gap between slow-curing epoxies and low-strength instant adhesives, making it an ideal choice for:

  • Transportation: Bonding of truck body panels, aluminum trailer components, and composite material compartments.
  • Industrial Manufacturing: Assembly of metal frames with plastic trim panels, sealing of GRP storage tanks.
  • General Assembly: Rapid bonding of ABS, acrylic, polyurethane, and other materials.
Technical Features
  • Gap Filling: Capable of filling bond gaps from 0.3mm to 13mm, accommodating uneven surfaces.
  • Environmental Resistance: Operating temperature range of -40℃ to 82℃, with excellent resistance to hydrocarbons, acids/bases (pH 3-10), and salt solutions.
  • Safety & Storage: Mixed density of 0.98 g/cc, flash point of 11°C. Shelf life is 13 months for Part A and 10 months for Part B (Activator) when stored between 12-23°C.
Expert Recommendation

ITW technical experts recommend application at ambient temperatures between 18-30°C for optimal performance. For carbon steel or stainless steel applications involving long-term exterior exposure, the use of a dedicated Plexus primer is suggested to enhance durability.
