Plexus MA310 Structural Adhesive: Rapid-Curing Solution for Thermoplastic Bonding

Plexus MA310, introduced by ITW Polymers Adhesives North America (ITW PANA), is a two-part methacrylate structural adhesive designed for bonding thermoplastic, metal, and composite assemblies. Mixed at a convenient 1:1 ratio, it offers a working time of 15-18 minutes at room temperature and achieves 75% of its ultimate strength within 30-35 minutes, providing an ideal solution for manufacturing processes that require rapid fixturing and improved production efficiency.

Core Advantages & Characteristics
  • Rapid Curing for Enhanced Production Efficiency

The standout feature of Plexus MA310 is its fast curing speed. At a standard room temperature of 23°C, it has a working time of approximately 15-18 minutes and a fixture time of about 30-35 minutes. This means parts can be initially fixed within about half an hour after bonding, making it highly suitable for manufacturing scenarios with tight production line cycles and the need for rapid turnover, effectively reducing waiting times and increasing capacity.

  • Excellent Substrate Versatility, Especially for Thermoplastics

MA310 exhibits excellent bonding performance on a variety of materials. Its recommended substrates include ABS, PVC, styrenics (e.g., HIPS), acrylics (PMMA), polyesters, urethanes, FRP, vinyl esters, gel coats, and epoxies. It offers excellent wetting on many thermoplastics and composites, potentially reducing reliance on complex surface preparations (like plasma treatment) in many cases, thereby simplifying the process flow.

  • Good Mechanical Properties & Environmental Resistance
    • High Strength & Modulus: Cured tensile strength is 27.5-31 MPa, tensile modulus is 1034-1206.5 MPa, and elongation at break is 5-15%, offering a combination of rigidity and some toughness.
    • Chemical Resistance: Good resistance to hydrocarbons, acids/bases within pH 3-10, and salt solutions.
    • Broad Service Temperature: Operating temperature range is -55°C to 121°C, meeting demands from cold to high-temperature environments.
    • Gap Filling: As a non-sag gel, it effectively fills gaps from 1 mm to 4 mm.
Typical Application Scenarios
  • Transportation Interior Parts: Bonding interior parts made of ABS, PVC, acrylics (e.g., air ducts, light covers, interior panels) in buses and rail transit vehicles, leveraging its fast curing to improve installation efficiency.
  • Commercial Vehicle Components: Bonding truck fairings, refrigerated truck body composite panels, and FRP covers to metal frames, achieving lightweight design and improving vibration resistance.
  • Electronics & Appliance Enclosures: Assembling enclosures and junction boxes made of ABS, PC/ABS, or polycarbonate, providing structural strength and dust-proof sealing.
  • Industrial Composite Structures: Bonding FRP to metal or to itself in applications like wind turbine auxiliary components and industrial containers.
