Plexus MA830: Fast-Cure, High-Strength Adhesive for Metal, Composite, and Plastic Bonding

Plexus MA830 is a two-part methacrylate adhesive designed for structural bonding of metals without primers. In addition, it does a superb job of bonding thermoplastic and composite assemblies with little or no surface preparation. Mixed at a 10:1 volume ratio, MA830 has a working time of 4 to 6 minutes and achieves approximately 75% of ultimate strength in 15 to 25 minutes at 23°C. This product provides a combination of high strength, excellent fatigue endurance, outstanding impact resistance, and superior toughness.

This product is designed for structural bonding applications requiring fast fixture times and gap filling. Plexus MA830 cures at room temperature, has an operating temperature range of -40°C to 82°C, and offers gap filling from 0.3mm to 13mm. Its unique non-sagging gel formulation prevents dripping, making it suitable for vertical or overhead applications. It is supplied in ready-to-use cartridges, 20-litre pails, or 200-litre drums and can be dispensed using standard meter-mix equipment.

Plexus MA830 include its uncured physical properties: the adhesive (Part A) is off-white with high viscosity, while the activator (Part B) is gray. When cured, it exhibits excellent mechanical properties with tensile strength ranging from 13.8-17.2 MPa, a high modulus (483-689 MPa), and good strain to failure (30-60%). It offers excellent resistance to hydrocarbons, acids, bases (pH 3-10), and salt solutions, but is susceptible to strong acids, bases, and polar solvents. Its rapid cure generates significant exothermic heat, so mixing large masses at once is not recommended.
