ThreeBond 1521 is a solvent-containing, general-purpose high-performance synthetic rubber adhesive based on chloroprene rubber (CR) and synthetic phenolic resins. It appears yellowish-brown in color, with approx. 25% non-volatile content, and is suitable for use in a temperature range of approx. -40°C to +80°C.

ThreeBond 1521 features high initial tack/adhesion. After application, allow 5–10 min flash-off time until tacky, then join and press. The cured bond line retains elasticity. It requires no mixing or heating. Suitable for bonding metals, most plastics (PVC, PS, phenolic, etc.), non-metals (wood, leather, textiles, ceramics), and natural/synthetic rubbers (SBR, NBR, EPDM, CR) — NOT suitable for PE, PP or fluororesins.
Typical properties: Surface dry time 5–10 min; tack-free time 5–30 min. Lap shear strength: Hardboard/Hardboard 2.3 MPa, Veneer/Veneer 3.1 MPa. Peel strength: NBR/Steel 3.7 kN/m, Cotton/Steel 5.3 kN/m, Cotton/Cotton 7.4 kN/m. The cured film shows good resistance to ethanol, water, salt water and hot water (95°C); slight swelling in hexane and 15% NaOH; slight discoloration in 15% HCl and 15% NH₃ — indicating good overall chemical resistance and flexibility.
ThreeBond 1521 is widely used as a contact adhesive for automotive interior trim (sound-deadening pads, carpets, decorative laminates, plastic trims), loudspeaker voice coil & diaphragm bonding, electronic enclosure/nameplate fixing, industrial rubber gasket or belt repair, furniture decorative laminate bonding, and general-purpose bonding of metal-rubber, leather-fabric or dissimilar substrates in workshop or production lines
