Sikaflex-211 CN is a universal sealant suitable for most industrial sealing applications:
Suitable for elastic bonding or sealing of welds and joints in automotive body manufacturing. Particularly suitable for dust sealing of front/rear aprons, engine compartments, floors, cab floors, doors, wheel arches, underbodies, fuel filler necks, fenders, and hem flanges. Also applicable for automotive sheet metal repair.
Widely used for sealing welds and joints in railway passenger cars, refrigerated containers, and other transportation equipment.
Suitable for machinery enclosure sealing, pipe flange sealing, metal structural joint sealing, and electrical cabinet waterproof sealing. Can be used for structural sealing in agricultural machinery and industrial equipment.
Can be used for joint sealing in cold storage facilities, ships, pipelines, and building waterproofing. Suitable for door/window frame sealing, curtain wall joint sealing, balcony/terrace waterproof sealing, and concrete expansion joint sealing.
Sikaflex-211 CN offers good adhesion to the following substrates:
Wood
Metals (aluminum, steel, coated metals)
Metal primers and paint coatings (2-C systems)
Ceramic materials
Plastics
Surfaces must be clean, dry, and free from grease, oil, and dust. As a general rule, substrates should be prepared according to the instructions in the Sika Pre-Treatment Chart. For non-porous substrates, light abrasion with fine sandpaper followed by cleaner treatment is recommended.
Sikaflex-211 CN can be applied within a temperature range of 5°C to 40°C. The optimum temperature for both substrate and sealant is between 15°C and 25°C.
Can be applied with manual, pneumatic, or electric piston guns as well as pump equipment. Cut the nozzle according to joint width and inject the sealant into the joint, avoiding air entrapment between substrate and sealant.
Tooling and finishing must be carried out within the skin time of the product. It is recommended to use Sika Tooling Agent N; other finishing agents should be tested for compatibility prior to use.
Sikaflex-211 CN can be painted after skin formation. 1C-PUR and 2C-acrylic based paints are generally suitable, but all paints should be tested under actual manufacturing conditions.
Sikaflex-211 CN is generally resistant to fresh water, seawater, diluted acids, and diluted caustic solutions; temporarily resistant to fuels, mineral oils, vegetable and animal fats and oils; not resistant to organic acids, glycolic alcohol, concentrated mineral acids, caustic solutions, or solvents.
The product should be stored in original, unopened containers in a dry environment below 25°C. Shelf life is 6 months from the date of manufacture. Once opened, the package should be used within a relatively short period of time.
Q1: Can Sikaflex-211 CN be used outdoors?
A: Yes. Sikaflex-211 CN offers good aging and weathering resistance and is suitable for various indoor and outdoor environments. After curing, it is resistant to UV and aging, maintaining long-term performance. However, the TDS defines it as a "universal sealant for interior applications," so for long-term outdoor exposure applications, actual environmental testing is recommended to confirm suitability.
Q2: Which substrates does Sikaflex-211 CN adhere well to?
A: The product offers good adhesion to wood, metals (aluminum, steel, coated metals), metal primers and paint coatings (2-C systems), ceramic materials, and plastics. If used on transparent or pigmented materials prone to stress cracking, it is recommended to seek manufacturer's advice and conduct testing first.
Q3: What is the curing speed of Sikaflex-211 CN?
A: At 23°C / 50% RH, skin time is approximately 45 minutes, working time is approximately 35 minutes, with a fast curing rate. Cure speed is affected by ambient temperature and humidity—lower temperature and lower humidity result in longer cure times.
