Multipurpose glue
Suitable for applications requiring primerless adhesion to many substrates
Preliminary tests are recommended to optimize conditions for the particular application
ELASTOSIL® E43 TRAN 01 shows good primerless adhesion to many substrates. We recommend running preliminary tests to optimize conditions for the particular application. The 'Best use before end' date of each batch is shown on the product label. Storage beyond the date specified on the label does not necessarily mean that the product is no longer usable. In this case however, the properties required for the intended use must be checked for quality assurance reasons.
During vulcanization of ELASTOSIL® E43 TRAN 01, a total of 4% by weight of acetic acid is split off. These vapours should not be inhaled for long periods or in high concentration. Work areas should therefore be well ventilated. Contact of unvulcanized silicone rubber with eyes and mucous membranes must be avoided as this would cause irritation. However if it does happen, rinse the affected area thoroughly. Comprehensive instructions are given in the corresponding Material Safety Data Sheets. They are available on request from WACKER subsidiaries or may be printed via WACKER web site http://www.wacker.com.
Q1: What type of curing system does E43 use?
A: E43 uses an acetic acid-curing system. During vulcanization, acetic acid is split off (total of 4% by weight). Therefore, good ventilation is required during application.
Q2: Does E43 require a primer?
A: No. E43 shows excellent primerless adhesion to many substrates. However, preliminary tests are recommended to optimize conditions for the particular application.
Q3: What is the curing time of E43?
A: At 23℃/50% RH, skin forming time is 15-20 minutes, and curing time is 12 h/mm.
Q4: What are the typical mechanical properties of E43?
A: After curing, Shore A hardness is 30, elongation at break is 600%, tensile strength is 6.2 N/mm², and tear strength is 11.5 N/mm.
Q5: What is the main application of E43?
A: E43 is a multipurpose glue, suitable for applications requiring primerless adhesion to many substrates.
Q6: Can the product still be used beyond the shelf life?
A: Storage beyond the date specified on the label does not necessarily mean that the product is no longer usable. However, the properties required for the intended use must be checked for quality assurance reasons.
