Klüber Lubrication presents Klüberlub BE 71-501, a polyurea-thickened, mineral-oil-based special lubricating grease for highly loaded rolling and plain bearings. It is described as a versatile lubricant for rolling and plain bearings operating under rotating or oscillating motion and high impact loads. Within the limits set out in its technical documentation, the formulation and solid lubricants are intended to contribute to low wear under the stated conditions.

The grease uses polyurea as its thickener and mineral oil as its base-oil type, and it contains solid lubricants. “Polyurea-thickened” describes the organic polyurea thickening system used instead of a metallic-soap thickener; “mineral-oil” describes the type of base fluid. This composition supports the stated product design, but does not by itself guarantee any specific operating result beyond the TDS values. The stated colour is yellow, and the worked penetration range is 310–340 × 0.1 mm according to DIN ISO 2137 at 25°C.

Performance Characteristics

Klüberlub BE 71-501 has a stated lower service-temperature limit of -20°C and an upper limiting value for continuous lubrication of 160°C. For rolling-bearing applications assessed in accordance with DIN 51825, the stated upper temperature is 140°C. These are document-based limits and do not replace on-site temperature measurement, verification of actual bearing-internal temperatures, or compliance with equipment-manufacturer specifications. The drop point is at least 200°C per DIN ISO 2176; this laboratory value is not an indication of suitability for continuous lubrication at that temperature.

The product’s documented performance values include a four-ball welding load of at least 4000 N (DIN 51350-4), a Brugger B load-carrying capacity of at least 30 N/mm² based on DIN 51347-1 and -2, and a wear-scar diameter of no more than 1 mm in the specified four-ball EP test (procedure E, 60 seconds, 1000 N). These are test-specific data and must not be used to infer equipment load capacity, service life or energy savings outside the stated test framework.

Identified Applications

Aighly loaded plain bearings in the plastics-processing industry, and construction machinery. The product is also listed for high-temperature rolling-bearing applications in the steel industry—for example ring-roller mills—and in wood-working equipment such as pelleting-press rolling bearings. The document attributes the latter suitability to favourable rolling-bearing test-rig results and good pumpability in commercial central-lubrication systems. These examples define the described application scope; they are not a guarantee of suitability for every machine or operating condition.

Technical Specifications
Parameter Value Standard
Designation KPF1N-20 DIN 51825 in connection with DIN 51502 (EMCOR max. 2)
Speed factor (n × dm) approx. 300,000 mm/min
Copper-corrosion result corrosion degree 1-100 DIN 51811, lubricating grease, 24 h/100°C
Corrosion-inhibition performance no greater than corrosion degree 2 DIN 51802, SKF-EMCOR, one week, distilled water
Water resistance not exceeding rating 1-90 DIN 51807-1, 3 h/90°C
Flow pressure at -20°C no greater than 1400 mbar
Kinematic viscosity of base oil at 40°C approx. 490 mm²/s
Kinematic viscosity of base oil at 100°C approx. 32 mm²/s
Application Methods

Klüberlub BE 71-501 may be applied using central-lubrication systems, a brush, spatula, grease gun or automatic metering device. When changing over to this product, the TDS recommends reducing lubricant consumption step by step so that used lubricant, wear particles and impurities are fully removed from the bearing. Compatibility, bearing condition and the equipment maintenance specification should also be checked before conversion.

About Klüber Lubrication

Klüber Lubrication was founded in Munich in 1929 and, since 1966, has been part of the Freudenberg Group, whose headquarters is in Weinheim, Germany. It is a business division of Freudenberg Chemical Specialities SE & Co. KG. Freudenberg is a family-owned, internationally focused group with 16 business groups. Klüberlub BE 71-501 should therefore be understood as a product within Klüber Lubrication’s specialty-lubricant portfolio, not as a substitute for conventional general-purpose grease without application-specific review.
