DuPont MOLYKOTE D-709 Anti-Friction Coating for Automotive Mechanisms & Light Loads

MOLYKOTE D-709 is a heat-curing dry-film lubricant manufactured by DuPont. It features a silver-colored appearance, offers a low coefficient of friction, and provides excellent corrosion protection, making it suitable for medium to low-load applications.

This product is formulated as a dispersion of solid lubricants within an organic resin-solvent system. Designed for application via spray or dip coating, it requires thorough stirring before use and must be applied onto clean, degreased metal surfaces. The recommended cured film thickness is between 5 to 15 microns, and its viscosity can be adjusted using Methyl Ethyl Ketone (MEK) solvent.

The cured film of MOLYKOTE D-709 effectively operates within a temperature range of -60°C to 240°C. It exhibits a very low coefficient of friction of 0.1 under specified test conditions, demonstrates excellent adhesion and hardness with a pencil hardness rating of 3H, and provides robust corrosion protection with salt spray resistance exceeding 300 hours.

MOLYKOTE D-709 is used for plastic/metal and metal/metal combinations under low to medium loads.
