MOLYKOTE P-74 Assembly Paste is a metal-free, high-load-carrying anti-seize lubricating paste developed by DuPont for threaded assembly, press-fit joints and sliding friction surfaces. Its formulation contains no intentionally added polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) or per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS). It delivers a stable and controllable coefficient of friction combined with excellent load-carrying capacity, corrosion protection and a wide service-temperature range, and it facilitates easy disassembly even after extended periods of demanding service.
Solid lubricants, synthetic oil, thickener and adhesion promoter.

MOLYKOTE P-74 Assembly Paste is suitable for assembly and fitting of a wide variety of threaded connections, such as bolted connections, sliding contact bearings, linear sliding guides, splined shafts, press-fit joints, exhaust bolts, spark plug threads, flanges and flange seals, door hinges, and brake mechanisms. It is widely used in industrial equipment and automotive high-temperature assembly applications.
1. Clean threads of metal surfaces to remove dirt, old grease and contaminants.
2. Apply the paste liberally by hand, gun or centralized lubrication system.
3. For optimum performance, do not mix with other lubricants.
Safety note: Product safety information required for safe use is not included in this document. Before handling, read the Safety Data Sheets and container labels for safe use, and physical and health hazard information.
No. It is a metal-free formulation, which avoids fastener brittleness (hydrogen embrittlement) and metal-related environmental contamination.
200 °C is the continuous service temperature of the paste itself. Above 200 °C, the base oil evaporates and the solid lubricants form a dry separating film that can withstand short-term peak temperatures up to 1,500 °C, though no longer in paste form.
Mixing is not recommended. Other lubricants will change the coefficient of friction and load-carrying performance, which breaks the torque-to-clamping-force relationship and may jeopardize assembly safety.
The shelf life is 60 months from the date of manufacture. Store the container tightly sealed in a cool, dry place, and avoid exposure to excessive heat and direct sunlight.
Yes. Its stable coefficient of friction ensures consistent torque-to-clamping-force behavior over repeated tightening-loosening cycles. It is recommended to clean the threads and re-apply the paste for each new assembly cycle.
The formulation contains no intentionally added PTFE or PFAS substances. Trace-level, unavoidable impurities may exist from raw materials.
